ICSO helps identify red flags for theft

Imperial County Sheriffs Office wants to help the community understand identity theft. 

Identity Theft Red Flags:

- Unusual credit activity, such as an increased number of new accounts or inquiries and spending appears in credit reports.

- Debt collectors contacting you for debts you didn't incur.

- Getting denied on a new credit application because of a damaged credit score.

- IRS notice that they have more than one Tax Return filed in your name.

- A data breach notice from a company that has your information. For example, your internet service provider, bank, and or retail stores where you have a credit card.
