On September 11, 2021 the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department responded to a fatality vehicle collision on County 12th & Avenue G.

It happened just after 6:30 a.m. Emergency crews found a full-size pickup truck and a mid-size sedan with heavy damage from an apparent head on collision.

The sedan had two male victims, the passenger, Uriel Sicarios, 18 of Lake Havasu and the driver Jesus Aceves, 29 of Yuma. Officials determined that both the driver and passenger were dead upon their arrival to the scene.

The pickup truck appeared to have 4 male victims inside the cab. The driver of the truck had to be freed, authorities say he was unconscious and was transported with life threating injures to YRMC via Somerton Cocopah ambulance.

The other three males from the truck were transported to YRMC in critical condition with injuries that included pain to the chest, leg pain and lacerations to the face.

The Yuma County Sheriff Office is investigating the accident. Authorities say the alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this accident.
