Update 3: On April 25th, 2022, about 1pm, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have found Grant Daniel Easley, 26, of Yuma, AZ to be a person of interest in this case. He is described as a white male about 5’11 feet tall and weighing approximately 173 lbs.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office recommends the public not to approach the individual, instead contact law enforcement. 

Update 2: On Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at around 5 PM, Serena Isabel Cadena was located and interviewed by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Investigators.

The victim of the homicide has been identified as Juan Alfredo Ruiz, 28, of Yuma, AZ. Next of kin notification has been made.

At this time the investigation is still ongoing.

Update 1: April 8, 2022 – 1:45 PM

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have identified Serena Isabel Cadena, 30, of Yuma, AZ as a person of interest in this case. She is described as a Hispanic female approximately 5’2 feet tall and weighing approximately 185 lbs.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office recommends the public to not approach the individual as she may be armed and dangerous.

On Monday, April 4th, 2022 at about 12:30 in the morning, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to the area of the 3300 Block of W. 5th Street in regarding shots fired.

When deputies got there, they saw a man unresponsive and with multiple gunshot wounds. Life saving measures were performed by the reporting party and deputies, but were unsuccessful.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene. Identification of man pending next of kin notification.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. This case remains under investigation at this time.
