YUMA -- Police in Yuma have arrested a Yuma High School JV football coach on child sex charges.
YPD say that around 11:15 in the morning on Thursday, October 06, 2025 Mr. Jacob Williams was arrested. The 31-year-old is facing charges for aggravated luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
It apparently started less than a week ago on October 2 when Williams started a conversation through social media with someone he thought was a 17 years old girl. During the conversation, YPD say that Williams tried to solicit naked photos several times from the person he was communicating with. Williams then sent a nude photo of himself to the person he believed was 17 years old.
Jacob Williams is a JV football coach at Yuma High School and a teacher at Tierra Del Sol Elementary in Somerton, AZ. Officials from Somerton School District have released a statement to it's families stating, "Based on the information we received, this incident did not occur on our campus or district. However, the safety of our staff and students are of utmost priority and proper measures were taken. The corresponding authorities are conducting their investigation."
It's unclear where Williams was when he was picked up by police. An inquiry into Yuma Union High School District did not receive a response as the district is currently on its Fall break.
The Yuma Police Department encourages anyone with any information about this case to please call the Yuma Police Department at (928) 373-4700.
